A night of uplifting, lyrical performances from the region's top young poets, emcees, and spoken word artists. Participating universities, high schools, and youth organizations include Vanderbilt, TSU, Belmont, American Baptist College, MTSU, Trevecca, Maplewood, Hillsboro, Stratford, Hunters Lane, Nashville School of the Arts, Y-CAP and YMCA artEmbrace.

Samples of Hip Hop and the Humanities

This wordshop series focuses on comparing contemporary stars and themes in hip hop to African American leaders from the humanities. Sessions use the work of these leaders as a launching pad for new performance pieces. Each week ends with performances.
