Christina reeves

Christina spent three years teaching English in Patterson, NJ at the high school made famous by the film “Lean on Me.” Her classroom was her playground. She dressed up in costumes, re-decorated the room over and over, and did anything possible to bring insights to her students. In addition to her work in the classroom, she taught drama, directed school musicals, and was the Director of the Youth Dance Ministry at her church.

During college at Montclair St. University, she found a best friend in Toni Morrison and acceptance in the words of Langston Hughes. She was called upon to write poetry for special events such as 9-11 memorials and HIV awareness initiatives. She also served as president of the Intervarsity Christian Fellowship.

Currently, Christina is studying spoken word poetry and rhetorical techniques at Tennessee State University’s Graduate English Program. In the Spring of 2007 Sigma Delta Tau inducted her into the international English Honor Society. She enjoys sharing her experiences and ideas at local poetry readings including Still Waters, Barnes & Nobles, and Raw Spaces.
